Artist Statement

My work strives to confront viewers with their ecological interactions. I hope acknowledgment of past digressions will inspire a revision of our impact as co-habitants on this land. I create art as a form of activism and land stewardship that fosters mutualism and intimacy facilitated through the reciprocal act of printmaking. A renewal of conservationism and environmentalism is necessary for our collective future to even exist at all. I aspire to evoke deep reverence for our inherent ecological bond with our plant and animal kin before they fade into distant memories due to human negligence.

My most recent work exposes my ritualized obsession with collecting, organizing and illustrating my personal archive of found natural artifacts. My time spent intimately observing and harvesting not only bonds me with the local environment, it brings intention to my art practice. By reproducing these reclaimed remains in copper, I immortalize, preserve and perpetuate their existence through replication via printmaking. My work embraces our collective experiences of life and death with an intention to nurture ways of living that promote sustainability while honoring natural cycles growth, decay, death and regeneration.
